Tips to Succeed with Adsense

As you use Google’s AdSense for more and more time you begin to learn from the mistakes of the past, and you slowly begin to realize which of your actions kept your site from reaching its full potential.

But an important part to making a mistake is telling people about it and teaching them how to avoid making the same mistake. So this is a list of the top five mistakes people using AdSense make.

You should read them well, and see if any of them is applicable to your contents. If it is, you must stop and attempt to fix such errors as quickly as possible.

The first major no-no that everyone seems to be hitting at one point or another has to do with breaking the rules. Google’s AdSense is a great program but it relies on you respecting a few set rules.

The most important thing is not to create “artificial clicks” through any means possible. Never click your own links, never ask your friends or close ones to click the links and never, by any means have your content encouraging the visitors to click the links. You run the risk of being permanently banned, and that will definitely damage your revenue.

Failing to comply with Google’s terms could have your AdSense account suspended. And this is why this rule is by all means the most important one of all. It’s because this is the difference between life or death.

The second thing users get wrong a lot of time is having a bad color palette for ads. Many times this happens because the publishers aren’t knowledgeable enough to change default color palettes.

Others just can’t seem to spend enough time in changing those defaults. Having bad ads that stand out is sure to push people away from clicking; whilst having something which is clearly visible yet distinctive will.

Third, of course, the position of the ads is probably the key element you should get right if you want to maximize your profits with AdSense. This is noted in a lot of places on the web and Google talks about this as well. Google can provide you with statistics which illustrate what positions work particularly well on your website.

Fourthly, banner ads are also a very bad idea if you’re using AdSense. 480×60 type ads are a sure way to drive many people away as most Internet surfers have developed a natural resistance to such means of advertising.

And last, but clearly not least, is not taking care of the site running the ads. Because ultimately it doesn’t matter how cool the site is itself. If it doesn’t have updated contents and a lot of daily visitors it will probably never earn you any serious AdSense revenues.

So these are the most important five things people get wrong while using the AdSense program. But of course if you don’t like this means of expressing the issues, here are the top five things you should do to ensure your AdSense ads are constantly bringing in that revenue.

Never break Google’s policy. Don’t make visitors create “artificial clicks” on your website regardless of the person doing so or the reason. Make sure your ads have the right colors that blend in with your site, and make sure they’re positioned in the right places to attract as many customers as possible. Always try to avoid using banner-like (480×60) adds unless you really know what you’re doing and constantly keep your site fresh and up to date.

So with that in mind you should be raising your AdSense revenues in no time.

Adsense and Niche Websites

By: web-money-advices.com

What niche should I choose for my site in order to make money with adsense?” I am sure many of you have heard this questions at least once.

First of all, I would not recomnend to anybody to start a website or a blog just to make money with adsense (or any kind of money-making program); I know that this is probably not what you would like to hear, but keep in mind that no matter what anybody tells you, it make take some time before you would gain a decent exposure on the web, and if you are not prepared for this, you’re in for a disappointment. You can not be successful at something if you don’t like it.

However, judging from another point of view, it is always nice to be rewarded for your hard work and commitment even if you don’t do it JUST for the money or in other words. sometimes is good to combine business with pleasure.

So let’s get to the point of this article. Why do some bloggers and website owners make more money with adsense than others, even though they have comparable traffic and they have carefully followed all the advices out there (such as ad placement and blending the adsense ads with the layout of the site)? In my opinion, in the end it all comes down to the actual niche of the website and the audience that is attracted by that specific niche.

You have to make sure that there is a market out there for the subject that you have chosen. You can not make a website about UFOs and expect to make money with adsense. I am not saying that you could not monetize it at all; if it attracts traffic, there are a lot of solutions to make money from it, but adsense will not be one of them. The UFO example is a little bit extreme, but I gave it just to have a general idea. Politics and other topics of this kind fall into the same category.

In order to be able to make money with adsense you need to focus either on products or services. But still you need to think about the profile of the audience that you will attract depending on the topic of your website. For example a product related website will always make much more than a site about SEO, for 2 main reasons:

1: People that are visiting a website that is focused on reviewing a specific type of products (digital cameras, phones, etc.) are more likely to click on the adsense ads especially because there is a far better chance that the actual product that is advertised would interest them.
Visitors of a SEO website don’t give a damn about the ads as 90% of them will be most probably promoting ebooks.

2: Another reason would be because visitors of a SEO website are web-savy and they almost automatically avoid the ads, while for the other situation the audience may not even be interested if they click on an ad or another section of your website. This can vary depending of the nature of the products that you are promoting; many people say that websites dedicated to women and teenagers products have the highest CTR; and I tend to believe it.

One last thing before you start the work, make sure to check the competition of the niche that you are thinking about. I have described how to do that in “Choosing a niche” article.

Adsense Friendly Content

By: web-money-advices.com

Probably the most important ingredient to monetizing your site with adsense is the content. Although everybody agrees to this, many seem not to pay attention to some aspects that actually make the difference between “good quality content” that google in general and adsense in particular, loves, and mediocre content.

1: Don’t write “posts”, write “articles” : When you write about something, make sure you have a comprehensive review of that specific topic and not just a 3-4 sentences “mini article”. It is easier to fall into this trap if you own a blog-type website. Many bloggers out there tend to think that posting every day is a must, not only for keeping their readers entertained, but to profit from pinging the blog directories to let them know how often they add fresh content.

Don’t get me wrong, updating daily is really a good thing, but don’t do it just for the fun of it. Small posts will eventually affect your credibility and eventually, your readers will find a better place to hang out. Well written documented articles will give you credibility, people will link to you, your site will attract more traffic and you have a better chance to become an authority in the field.

You may probably ask “ok, but what does adsense has to do with all that?”. Well besides, generating traffic to your website (which is the dream of every webmaster, especially if he uses adsense), comprehensive articles have a lot better chance to trigger targeted keywords that will interest your users and make them click on them; and that is what you are after, aren’t you? Which brings us to the next step:

2: Write with keywords in mind : If you want to maximize your chance to trigger better targeted keywords from adsense, you have to anticipate a little.

First, write your article without thinking of adsense at all; make it sound good and coherent to the reader and when you are happy with the outcome, save it as a draft.Take a short brake and think of the keywords that you are trying to trigger from the adsense ads with your article and write them down on a sheet of paper. Re-read your article and place the keywords where you think they fit. You may also want to replace some words in your article with the keywords that you have written down (where they match, of course) but it is very important that you don’t abuse it. You still need to keep it sound good to the users, and repeated keywords, if they are not place properly, may sound very annoying.

3: Don’t mix the topics: With the points mentioned above in mind, it is almost obvious that you have to concentrate on a single topic on each page, in order to trigger targeted keywords from adsense ads. Again, bloggers, due to the nature of the blogging platform, seem to make the mistake of having a really long welcoming page filled with posts on different subjects. This not only bad for adsense, but it also harms the search engine positioning, not to mention that is not esthetic either.

There are 2 solutions to avoid this:

a) Allow only one post per page.

b) Make static html page for your home page. This tends to be a better solution because it will allow to show more posts within each category, which will actually be a positive thing, since the subject of all post in a category should be the same.

No matter if you have a blog or a website, the main idea is to keep each topic on a single page with an appropriate titles and headings.
